New England Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez has not played this season due to a hamstring injury suffered during training camp. However, recent signs suggest that he may be gearing up to make his season debut this Sunday.

Gonzalez posted a picture of himself practicing on his Instagram story with the caption “New Week, New Blessings,” Gonzalez wrote Monday.

Gonzalez returned to practice last week in a limited fashion, meaning he was back on the practice field but likely didn’t participate in any live action.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel told the media last week that Gonzalez was questionable heading into their Week 3 game with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the team ruled him out the day before the game.

New England needs Gonzalez to return to a secondary that Pro Football Focus currently ranks 28th.

New England’s loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday wasn’t due to a letdown from the secondary, as Aaron Rodgers only threw for 139 yards. However, the Patriots will face the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen in two weeks, and New England will need Gonzalez to help cover Buffalo’s excellent receiving corps.
