Football fans are chomping at the bit to get the season underway.
As the season approaches, the New England Patriots are documenting preseason preparations and releasing them in their “Forged in Foxborough” series.
Episode two airs on Friday, but the team released a sneak preview on Patriots.com ahead of the release. The trailer shows the new addition, Carlton Davis, sharing a moment with Christian Gonzalez. Davis asks Gonzalez if he prefers the right or left side of the defense, and Gonzalez displays his confidence.
“I don’t give a [expletive],” Gonzalez said.
That kind of swagger is exactly what you want from a lockdown corner. Some cornerbacks have a preference and stick to one side of the field. Gonzalez doesn’t care and is willing to take whatever matchup they give him.
Gonzalez has the confidence for good reason, too. He was recently ranked in the Top 100 players and is coming off a very strong season.
The secondary should be a strength for New England. Jabrill Peppers has performed well throughout his Patriots tenure, and Carlton Davis is a veteran addition to the group. If they stay healthy, opposing receivers could have a difficult time getting open.
