The Buffalo Bills are already incredibly thin at cornerback. They got even thinner late in the first half against the Atlanta Falcons when Christian Benford left the game with a leg injury. He limped off the field while the Falcons were trying their two-minute drill.
Benford re-entered the game in the third quarter with that the team called an Achilles injury. He didn’t look hobbled, but he can’t be 100%.
First-round pick Max Hairston has been injured since early training camp and remains on injured reserve. Sixth-round pick Dorian Strong started the season opener and there were high hopes for him, but he’s on injured reserve with a neck injury. That leaves just Tre’Davious White and slot cornerback Taron Johnson at CB along with kick returner Brandon Coddrington. Dane Jackson is on the practice squad and has starting experience, but he can’t play against Atlanta.
Ja’Marcus Ingram is in the game for Benford. The former undrafted free agent (2022) has played 25 games for the Bills including one start in 2024. He had just 11 defensive snaps heading into the game.
Benford entered the lineup as a rookie after being a fifth-round pick in 2022 and has held the job ever since. He has missed games due to injury in every season but played 96% of the snaps so far this year.
