If you thought Christian Bale had a crazy transformation as Dick Cheney for “Vice” (2018), wait until you see how he looks as the late Al Davis for the upcoming “Madden” blockbuster.

The Batman and “American Psycho” star is co-starring with Nicolas Cage (John Madden) Kathryn Hahn (Virginia Madden) and John Mulaney (Trip Hawkins) for the highly anticipated John Madden biopic film, directed by David O. Russell.

“Madden” will tell the story of the legendary John Madden, the legendary Raiders Hall of Fame football coach and NFL television analyst who also became the face of the beloved EA Sports video game franchise.

Christian Bale was cast as Al Davis, who began his legendary NFL story as the Oakland Raiders’ head coach for three years (1963 to 1965) before moving up to part owner and GM in 1966. Six years later, he became the Raiders’ principal owner and held that position until his death in 2011.

Behind-the-scenes photos of Christian Bale as Al Davis have surfaced on the internet. And don’t lie to yourself: You would not have known it was the former “Dark Knight” trilogy star if you walked past him on the street:

And for what it’s worth, Nicolas Cage would also be impossible to notice on the streets if you saw him dressed as John Madden:

A specific release date for “Madden” has not been announced, but it’s set to come out at some point in 2026.

Christian Bale Gets Special Opportunity To Portray An NFL Icon

Bale is one of the most accomplished and beloved actors of his era, but none of his previous roles compares to the opportunity to play the late Al Davis. The longtime Raiders owner put the NFL on the map in California, overseeing three Super Bowl championship teams.

Watching Bale portray one of the most influential figures in NFL history alongside Cage should be a special treat for football fans.
