The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for their first full-capacity home game since the 2017 season, where they will host the Houston Texans on Monday night to close out wild card weekend. That said, the Steelers were a missed kick way from being sent home.

In Week 18, Chris Boswell missed an extra point after Calvin Austin scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute remaining. This is what allowed the Tyler Loop kick to decide the game one way or the other. The All-Pro kicker spoke to the media on Friday, saying he couldn’t tell if the kick was tipped or not, but took responsibility for the miss.

“I don’t watch film anyway and everybody cracks jokes about that,” Boswell said via Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “But how I hit it felt really good. Obviously, it took the path that it did, and they’re calling it a tip, but I mean, I have no idea… You can’t tell on film whether it’s tipped or whether it’s just a shank kick. But at the end of the day, whether it’s a block or not, it’s on me, and [I’ve] got to put it in and we’ll move past it.”

The Steelers will almost certainly need Boswell to be on point this Monday, as both teams field top-level defenses in what could be a low-scoring game where every point will matter.
