EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was seeking a new contract from the Steelers this offseason, but a deal wasn’t reached. Boswell confirmed after his 60-yard game-winning field goal against the New York Jets on Sunday that he’s not worried about his contract situation.

“I’m not worried about that,” Boswell said. “My kicking will take care of that. I just have to show up for every kick and every game and see what happens at the end of the year.”

Boswell was a hold-in for a while at training camp. He admitted that he was never going to sit out for games.

“I want to play this year and play with these guys,” he said. “I’m not ever going to sit out.”

Boswell is currently the NFL’s eighth-highest paid kicker. He’s signed through 2026 with a $5 million average annual value. Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs is the league’s highest-paid kicker with a contract value of $25.6 million/$6.4 AAV.

Boswell, who was 41 of 44 on field goal attempts in 2024, nearly broke an NFL single-season record. The record is 44 field goals, set by San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers in 2011.

Boswell also nailed a 56-yarder in the first half against the Jets.

“Boz always wants to bang from deep. That one he made in the first half, I don’t know if he looked at me. He just walked out on the field,” head coach Mike Tomlin said. “That’s the type of guy you want banging for you under those circumstances.”

Boswell is the 10th kicker all-time, and first since Tyler Bass on Nov. 3, 2024, with a game-winning field goal of 60-or-more yards in the final two minutes of regulation or in overtime

“I felt good all day,” Boswell said. “I was making solid contact. Can’t complain.”
