It seemed like the wild saga of Xaviar Babudar, the Chiefs fan most people know as “ChiefsAholic,” came to an end when he was sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison over a string of bank robberies last year. However, he’ll be in the clink for much longer after learning his fate concerning the state charges he was hit with for an armed heist in Oklahoma.
There are a number of NFL teams that have boast fans who managed to become unofficial mascots thanks to the attention they managed to garner; “Fireman Ed” was a staple at Jets games for decades, and the same could be said for the Chargers fan known as “Boltman” thanks to the elaborate costume he donned.
The Chiefs eventually got in on the action courtesy of Xavier Babudar, the rabid supporter known as “ChiefsAholic” who made a name for himself with the help of the wolf costume he donned while attending contests at Arrowhead Stadium.
However, things took a wild turn when he was arrested in 2022 for robbing a bank in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He subsequently skipped bail and sparked a manhunt before being apprehended the following year prior to going on trial for a slew of charges after being accused of perpetrating 11 bank robberies in seven different states—a spree he said was used to fuel a gambling addiction.
Last year, Babudar was sentenced to 17-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to the federal charges he was hit with, but that didn’t mark the end of his legal troubles.
He was also tried in Oklahoma for the aforementioned robbery in Tulsa (one where a teller who was working at the time successfully sued him to the tune of $10.8 million), and according to The Kansas City Star, prosecutors who were hoping for a life sentence were forced to settle for the 32 years he was hit with on Monday.
The sentence will run concurrently with the one the 30-year-old Babudar is serving at the federal penitentiary in Florence, Colorado, and he will serve the remaining 14-and-a-half years in Oklahoma when it expires—meaning he’ll be more than 70 years old when he ends up being released.
