The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping for a bounce back season in 2026 after a 2025 season in which they missed the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. Mahomes recently signed a massive contract extension with the team as he recovers from a torn ACL injury suffered toward the end of last season.

Another player who dealt with injuries in 2025 was second-year wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who has established himself as a key part of the team’s receiving core moving forward.

Recently, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid got 100 percent honest on what he’s seen from Worthy so far at mandatory minicamp this week.

“He looks stronger and that’s the part that you like… we put him in a lot of the primary positions,” said Reid, per Sports Radio 810 WHB on X, formerly Twitter.

Worthy’s skinny frame had been part of the season that some fans were skeptical of his potential as a number one wide receiver at the NFL level. This didn’t get any more hopeful after the star was forced to miss time following a collision with Travis Kelce in the Chiefs’ first game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers last year.

However, if he has indeed added some strength while maintaining his signature elite quickness, Worthy could turn into an even more versatile weapon for the Chiefs’ offense this year.

Meanwhile, Kansas City is hoping that wide receiver Rashee Rice will be able to put his off-field troubles behind them this year. Rice is currently serving a 30-day jail sentence for violating his probation, which stemmed from a 2024 hit and run incident in Dallas, for which he was suspended some of last year.

In any case, the Chiefs are set to kick off their 2026 season on September 14 vs the Denver Broncos.
