While the Kansas City Chiefs have high hopes for a receiver, the Falcons paid plenty of cash to their best. And these teams found more common ground Thursday with the Chiefs trading an offensive tackle to the Falcons amid the team’s OTAs, according to a post on X by Jeremy Fowler.

“Trade: The Kansas City Chiefs are dealing OT Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons, per sources. Morris, who started 16 games for (the) Chiefs, gives Atlanta much-needed tackle help.”

The details of the trade included two draft picks, according to a post on X by Jordan Schultz.

“Sources: The #Chiefs are trading OT Wanya Morris and a 7th-round pick in 2027 to the #Falcons for a 6th-round pick in 2027. Kansas City and Morris worked together to find him a new team.”

The Chiefs selected Morris in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. he started four games as a rookie, but made 11 starts in 2024. However, last year, Morris received only one starting assignment. He does have a touchdown reception to his credit.

Chiefs seem happy with their current offensive line

With Josh Simmons at left tackle and Jaylon Moore at right tackle, the Chiefs think they have enough to protect their $500 million quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. On the inside, the Chiefs have Kingsley Suamataia and Trey Smith at guard positions. Creed Humphrey still holds down the fort at the center position.

Backups include Esa Pole and Chukwuebuka Godrick at tackle positions, CJ Hanson and Mike Caliendo at guards, and Hunter Nourzad at center.

As for the Falcons, Kaleb McGary left the Falcons in a tough spot with his retirement in April after six seasons as a full-time starter with the team. McGary had missed the 2025 season with an injury. But the Falcons were hoping to get him back.

After his retirement, the Falcons signed former Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, who will fit into the starting lineup.
