Tom Brady seemingly took a subtle dig at his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, as he reflected on their family dynamics and how his “dedication” to football showed his commitment to providing for their kids.
Before their divorce, Gisele was said to have advised Brady to retire from football, citing concerns for his health and the need for him to spend more time with her and their children.
Bundchen always wanted Tom Brady to retire, but when he did it the first time, he came back to play one more season in the NFL. They would divorce months later.
Shortly after Brady stepped away in 2023, Gisele commented on Brady’s announcement post.
“Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life,” Bundchen wrote in the comments, along with a prayer hands emoji.
She was clearly done with him and had moved on to another man.
Fast forward to July 2025, and now it seems that Tom Brady is calling her out.
Brady took an apparent swipe at his ex-wife in a candid newsletter about parenting his children.
“I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family,” the former NFL star wrote in his 199 newsletter released Tuesday.
“I chose to do it by playing football.”
He continued, “My dedication to the sport, the hours of practice, the moments when I was laser focused — those were times when I believe I was doing the best possible thing for my family and my kids, by prioritizing my profession and teaching, by example, what it takes to be really good at your job, what it takes to follow through on commitments, what it takes to be a great teammate; and showing them, also by example, that work is a big part of all of our lives.”
Not everybody was feeling what Brady had to say as his comments appeared to be shady towards his ex-wife.
Mitchell Schwartz, a former offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, came to the defense of Gisele Bundchen.
Schwartz, who won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs, called out the future Hall of Famer for continuing to play professional football well into his 40s, despite having already amassed a fortune.
“Lots of hilarious things Brady wrote, but this one does it for me: “For instance, I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football,” Schwartz wrote in a post on X, referencing Brady’s newsletter.
