It sure looked like Patrick Mahomes went out of his way to avoid dapping up Samaje Perine while he was handing out handshakes to his teammates toward the end of Super Bowl LIX. However, the Chiefs RB denied that was the case by providing some context after the clip went viral.
The Chiefs saw their dreams of a three-peat dashed in decisive fashion on Sunday night when the Eagles coasted to a 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX in a game where Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Kansas City offense were powerless to get things clicking until the contest had firmly reached garbage time.
Mahomes did what he could to keep morale high on the sidelines as the one-sided showdown was coming to an end, as he was captured giving handshakes and hugs to teammates including JuJu Smith-Schuster, Isiah Pacheco, and Travis Kelce while making his way down the bench.

However, plenty of people noticed there was one man he passed by during that procession: Samaje Perine, the backup running back who joined the Chiefs at the start of the season and finished Super Bowl LIX with a lone carry for eight yards (which still accounted for around 16% of his teamβs entire rushing production in a game where four players were held to a combined 49 yards on the ground).
The many Mahomes Haters who were obviously thrilled with what transpired in The Big Game were more than happy to use that clip as evidence the QB is a bad and classless teammate who purposefully snubbed one of his own guys.
However, Perine set the record straight on Monday by hopping into the comments on an Instagram video of the βincidentβ that was severely overblown based on what he had to say about what transpired.
That settles that.
