The Kansas City Chiefs are eagerly anticipating Patrick Mahomes to return from his ACL injury in 2026. When he is on the field, the franchise want to ensure they have the best offensive line possible in front of them.

But entering the upcoming season, that may not include Wanya Morris. The Chiefs and Morris have agreed to explore trade options, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

“The Chiefs and OT Wanya Morris have agreed to explore trade options, per sources,” Fowler wrote. “Morris, who has 16 starts in three seasons (11 in 2024), would like the chance to play more and Kansas City has tackle depth.”

As it stands, Jaylon Moore is expected to play right tackle in Kansas City while Josh Simmons is stationed at left. Morris could remain with the Chiefs as a swing tackle and try to chase another Super Bowl title. However, it’s clear he is searching to see if any potential starting roles are open.

The tackle has been with the Chiefs since 2023, appearing in 43 games with 16 starts. During the 2025 campaign, he made 12 appearances and a start. He didn’t have enough reps to qualify for Pro Football Focus rankings, but he did earn an impressive 83.2 run blocking grade. Morris’ 57.1 overall grade though does create some questions.

While the Chiefs wouldn’t hate keeping a veteran presence on their line, they fact they’re allowing trade talks shows they are valuing Morris’ best interest. The franchise will now see what other teams are willing to offer in a potential deal. Overall, it wouldn’t be shocking if the tackle’s time in Kansas City is ending soon.
