In the NFL’s Week 5, the 2-2 Kansas City Chiefs will hit the road to face the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium in a “Monday Night Football” showdown. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. Arrowhead Time on ESPN and ABC — locally on KMBC/9.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Kansas City has opened as a 3-point favorite in the game.
Kansas City enters the matchup fresh off a statement win. In Week 4, the Chiefs opened as 2.5-point underdogs to the Baltimore Ravens, but responded with their best performance of the season, rolling to a 37-20 victory. The Jaguars, meanwhile, are coming off an impressive 26-21 win over the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers.
Kansas City and Jacksonville last met in Week 2 of 2023 — a sloppy game the Chiefs managed to win 17-9 despite committing three turnovers and 12 penalties for 94 yards.
So far this season, Kansas City’s play has often mirrored that 2023 contest: sloppy. The offense has hurt itself too often with penalties and poor execution. But in Week 4, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the offense finally clicked, scoring their highest point total of the young season. Defensively, Kansas City stifled Lamar Jackson, forcing two uncharacteristic turnovers.
The Jaguars — led by first-year head coach Liam Coen and fifth-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence — feature one of the league’s most intriguing rookies in versatile playmaker Travis Hunter, who is contributing on both offense and defense. Jacksonville has beaten the Panthers, Texans, and 49ers. Its lone loss came against the Bengals in Week 2.
Both Kansas City and Jacksonville enter Week 5 riding two-game winning streaks. Each hope to maintain momentum, staying in the hunt for first place in their divisions.
