It is very sad to hear the news that former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Jordan Devey passed away on Friday, July 24th, at the age of 38 by suicide. His wife shared the tragic news publicly on social media.
Devey’s mother believes Devey suffered from CTE, but according to ESPN’s article on Saturday morning, they won’t be able to test for the disease based on the way he passed.
Devey had a home with his wife and four children in the Kansas City area after he retired from the NFL in 2021. He will be survived by them; a GoFundMe has been set up to support the family.

Devey played three seasons with the Chiefs from 2016 to 2018.
The Utah native first signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013 for the Baltimore Ravens. He then played for the New England Patriots, winning a Super Bowl in 2014.
Following his three seasons in Kansas City, Devey played for the Las Vegas Raiders and the Buffalo Bills, before being released in August 2021.

While Fields did not live up to his No. 11 overall billing when Chicago selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he could be a strong backup, especially within a system he’s familiar with, as he will be in Kansas City. His 16-37 record as a starter doesn’t inspire much confidence; there’s talent to tap into for spot appearances. Of course, Fields also possesses a rushing component to his game that adds another element to help his teams in a pinch.

Steve Spagnuolo’s defense ranked 29th in third-down conversions last season. The defense was bolstered for this reason alone, and because they were not good against fourth-down conversions either. Kansas City targeted speed along the defensive line and secondary to prevent this. Will the numbers be better early on?

Habitat KC is working to build 14 homes near 158th and Black Bob Road. The families who eventually live in the homes will be helped through Habitat’s affordable mortgage program.
