Report: Travis Kelce ’definitely’ a target for NFL broadcasters, would command 8 figures | Awful Announcing

Kelce co-hosts New Heights, one of the top sports podcasts in the country, with his brother. He also has appeared in television and film cameos and hosted the Are You Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader? reboot for Prime Video.

Fans may not often hear Kelce break down the granular elements of a football game, but it sounds as if that’s where his interests lie as he potentially entertains talks with broadcast networks.

And, according to Marchand, he will have very particular expectations of his next employer.

“He’s a guy who is only going to take a No. 1 job, to me,” Marchand said of Kelce. “He’s going to get anywhere from 10 to 20 million, because he’s Travis Kelce.”

Dave Merritt Is Chiefs’ Best Internal Choice if Spagnuolo Leaves | KC Kingdom

Merritt would stay with the Giants until the 2017 season, when he would depart for another coaching role as the defensive backs coach with the Arizona Cardinals. This was a short-lived stint with Spagnuolo and Merritt teaming up once again in the 2019 season, joining the Chiefs as the defensive backs coach, and he has maintained the role since. Furthering his qualifications are the two Super Bowls won during this time, as well as the consistent performance of a secondary that has gone through consistent offseason changes.

While Spagnuolo understandably gets all of the credit for any defensive success, the ability to delegate to a strong staff is obviously a part of what has made the Chiefs’ defense so consistent. Under Spagnuolo, the defense gave up the 10th fewest yards in the league in 2025 despite having consistent injuries, little pass rush, and underperforming veterans in the secondary.

3 Questions That The Kansas City Chiefs Must Answer In 2026 | Sportscasting Bets

Q3: What Are They Doing About The Skill Positions?

It is no secret that the Chiefs have failed to surround Patrick Mahomes with the weapons necessary to be successful. Since Tyreek Hill’s departure in 2022, Kansas City hasn’t had a receiver top the 1,000 yard mark in any season, and they haven’t had a 1,000 yard rusher since Kareem Hunt’s rookie season in 2017. Add in the likely retirement of Travis Kelce, and the situation remains dire for Mahomes and the offense.

How will they improve in that aspect? There are only a handful of free agent wide receiver options that would give the Chiefs a clear #1 option, so they may have to go the route of a trade to improve at the position. But there are some attractive running backs that should be available, including Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker III.
