Well, it might not be long until Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker breaks the record for the longest field goal in NFL history.
Former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker holds the record for the longest field goal ever, a 66-yarder made against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 26, 2021. Harrison Butker made a 62-yard attempt in the 2022 season, tied for the fifth-longest in NFL history.
On his X/Twitter account, Butker posted a video of himself booting a 77-yard field goal during a casual practice session. And seeing how easy he made it look, it only feels like a matter of time until he breaks Tucker’s record:
Windy day in Kansas City, but never going to pass up the opportunity! #77yards 🙌🏼 👊🏼 pic.twitter.com/wyy4nJwNu1

Obviously, there’s a difference between kicking on your own time in practice and doing so in a real game where you face pressure from opponents. But we know Harrison Butker has the power and accuracy to drill a field goal from 70-plus yards, so maybe it’s only a matter of time until he breaks the record.
Tucker currently boasts the best field goal percentage in NFL history at 89.103 percent, narrowly ahead of Butker (88.618 percent).
The three-time Super Bowl champion will begin his quest to overtake Tucker as the most accurate kicker in league history on Sept. 5, when the Chiefs kick off their season against the Los Angeles Chargers.
