After making a third straight trip to the Super Bowl, the season couldn’t have ended much worse for Travis Kelce. The Chiefs tight end had one of his worst performances and was visibly demoralized as Kansas City was blown out by the Eagles.
With Kelce already 35 years old and showing an on-field decline, he faced plenty of questions about his playing future. And immediately after the game, Kelce said he was going to take some time to consider retirement or returning for another year.
Well, from the sounds of Chiefs GM Brett Veach’s comments, we should probably expect to see Kelce back in Kansas City in 2025.

Speaking at the NFL combine, Veach said that he got the impression that Kelce was “fired up” about playing next season. He added that the team hasn’t placed a deadline on Kelce for his decision — regardless of the cap implications with his contract.
Veach said:
“How we left at the end of the season is that he was fired up. He has one more year under contract. Still think he has that fire and desire to play. As far as I’m concerned, there is no deadline. We left it as he’d be back, and we’re excited to get him back. And get him going.”
Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters that Kelce was still mulling his options. But we’ll have to see what the future Hall of Fame tight end ultimately decides.
