Each practice day of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs release an official injury report leading up to the next game. In the NFL’s Week 8, the Chiefs host the Washington Commanders for “Monday Night Football” on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
Here is the Chiefs’ second official injury report of the week:

Some notes
- For the Chiefs, guard Trey Smith (back) did not participate in Thursday or Friday workouts. On Thursday, head coach Andy Reid said that Smith’s back spasms were “getting better,” but apparently not enough to get him back to the practice field.
- Left tackle Josh Simmons has now missed two games (and five straight practices) for personal reasons. Even if he returns to the practice field on Saturday, it would be unlikely for the Chiefs to start him in Monday’s game. According to Reid, Simmons is “taking care of family.”
- Running back Kareem Hunt (ankle – knee) was upgraded to limited participation on Friday after being held out on Thursday, when Reid implied Hunt would likely miss only one day of practice. “He’s going to be OK, but we’ll have him sit out today,” he said of Hunt’s situation.
- Cornerback Jaylen Watson (back) was upgraded to full participation after being limited on Thursday.
- For the Commanders, quarterback Jayden Daniels still headlines the report, having been held out of both of this week’s practices. Multiple outlets are reporting he is out for Monday’s game. If he doesn’t play, backup Marcus Mariota will start in his place.
- Defensive tackle Daron Payne (toe) did not participate for the second straight day.
- Guard Sam Cosmi (back) was upgraded to full participation on Friday after missing Thursday’s session.
- Tight end Colson Yankoff (hamstring) was added to the report on Friday. He was a limited participant in practice.
- On Thursday, tight end Zach Ertz, tackle Laremy Tunsil and outside linebacker Von Miller were all given rest days. All three were full participants on Friday. Cornerback Jonathan Jones was excused from practice for personal reasons on Thursday. He was also back at work on Friday.
