Arrowhead Pride
For the NFL’s Week 12, the (5-5) Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the (8-2) Indianapolis Colts on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are hoping to rebound from bitter back-to-back losses to the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. In all probability, they’ve played themselves out of their chance to win a 10th consecutive AFC West title, but can still reach the playoffs by being close to perfect in the final seven weeks of the season. That challenge begins against the Colts, who are coming into Kansas City on the heels of their bye week.
Indianapolis opened at its own 25 after receiving the kickoff and moved into neutral field position before penalties stalled the series. Davis opened with a 6-yard throw to Michael Pittman Jr. to the IND 48 (13:02). Jonathan Taylor’s right-end run to midfield was negated by a holding call on Tanner Bortolini, pushing the Colts back to the IND 39 (12:20). A short Pittman reception set up 2nd-and-long, followed by an illegal formation penalty that wiped out a 19-yard gain to the KC 39 (11:06). After a 12-yard completion to tight end Trey Warren to the IND 49 (10:39), a false start backed the Colts up again (9:51). Rigoberto Sanchez punted from the IND 44, with Nikko Remigio calling for a fair catch at the KC 7 (9:41).
Kansas City opened at its own 4. Kareem Hunt gained 3 yards to the KC 7 (9:33). On second down, Patrick Mahomes’ short left throw to Rashee Rice was tipped at the line and intercepted by Laiatu Latu at the KC 7, returned to the KC 3 (9:01).
Set up at the Kansas City 3 after the interception return, Indianapolis lost 3 yards when Jonathan Taylor was forced out left for a stop by Chamarri Conner at the KC 6 (8:54). On the next snap, Davis Jones hit Michael Pittman Jr. on a short right throw for a 6-yard touchdown (8:15). Michael Badgley converted the extra point with Lucas Rhodes snapping and Rigoberto Sanchez holding.
Kansas City opened the series at its own 26 with 8:06 left in the quarter. Patrick Mahomes found Kareem Hunt on a short left completion to the KC 37, followed by a 9-yard throw to Xavier Worthy to the KC 46 (7:29). Hunt pushed ahead twice for 2 yards and then 7, moving the ball to the IND 45 (6:17). A short throw to Rashee Rice converted third-and-3 at the IND 45 (5:33) after an earlier incompletion to Brashard Smith.Hunt gained 9 yards off right tackle to the IND 32 (4:58), but Clyde Edwards-Helaire was stopped for no gain on the next snap (4:21). On third-and-1, Hunt slipped through left guard for 3 to the IND 29 (3:46). Mahomes then hit Smith for 10 yards to the IND 19 (3:04) and Worthy for 8 to the IND 11 (2:16). Hunt...
