The 2025 season has been a giant letdown for the Kansas City Chiefs; heading into the 2025 campaign, they’ve made it to the postseason 10 consecutive times, and during that span, they’ve gone to the Super Bowl five times and won three titles. However, they are not going to be qualifying for the postseason this year, and they weren’t particularly close, as they finish the season on a 14-12 loss to the hapless Las Vegas Raiders to end the campaign with a 6-11 record.
Now that the Chiefs’ nightmare season is over, there is plenty of speculation regarding the future of tight end Travis Kelce, who is now 36 years of age and has nothing more left to prove in his Hall of Fame career. There is a possibility that Kelce has played his final game in the NFL, and if Sunday night was truly the last time he’d be stepping on the gridiron as a player, then he can hold his head high and be proud of what he’s done.
Nonetheless, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, who is one of Kelce’s closest friends on the team, believes that the veteran will be back in 2026 for a redemption season.
“I just believe my guy is coming back,” Jones said, per Nate Taylor of ESPN.
Kelce has everything one would want in a life; his NFL career is a major success, and his personal life appears to be in order, especially when his much-anticipated wedding to pop icon Taylor Swift is drawing closer and closer.
But considering how much of a proud winner Kelce is, it’s not that hard to envision him wanting to go out on a better note than this for the Chiefs. He could be back in 2026 for a swan song as he and his buddy Patrick Mahomes look to climb the mountaintop of the NFL once more.
