The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
Entering the contest, all eyes were on guard Trey Smith, who practiced all week after missing Kansas City’s Week 8 game against the Washington Commanders with a back injury. After being listed as questionable on this week’s final injury report, Smith will dress on Sunday.
Cornerback Kristian Fulton, wide receiver Jalen Royals, tight end Jared Wiley, running back Elijah Mitchell, and tackle Josh Simmons will also not play on Sunday. Simmons had already been ruled out on Friday as he continues to address a personal situation.
On Saturday, Kansas City elevated practice squad running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and guard C.J. Hanson to the active roster. As elevated players, they will automatically be returned to the team’s practice squad after the game. Edwards-Helaire — the Chiefs’ first round selection from the 2020 draft — will see his first regular season action with his original team since 2023’s Week 18.
With Smith apparently passing whatever final checks the team’s training staff required, Hanson is inactive.
The Bills have also released their list of inactives.
The Bills had already ruled out defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and linebacker Shaq Thompson on the final injury report. Their defense took another hit as nickel cornerback Taron Johnson appeared to suffer an injury late in the practice week. Although listed as questionable on Friday, Johnson will not play.
The Bills have elevated cornerback Dane Jackson and defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis for the matchup. Both will dress for the game.
