Kansas City’s schedule comes with eight standalone games.

The 2025 Kansas City Chiefs’ full regular-season schedule is here!

The biggest game on the schedule: Week 9 on the road against the Buffalo Bills (Sunday at 3:25 p.m. on CBS**)**

While I considered picking Week 2’s Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, in the end, I decided it has to be the Chiefs’ Week 9 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

It’s sometimes difficult to know which teams in the NFL are good until the first four to six games are completed. By Week 9, we’ll likely have a clear idea of who both the Chiefs and Bills really are. The timing of the game is also important. Midway through the season, it’s plausible these two perennial AFC contenders could have similar records, and the game could serve as a critical head-to-head tiebreaker in determining the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

In one of the league’s strangest trends, in the teams’ last eight matchups, the Bills have taken every regular-season game, whereas the Chiefs have won every postseason game — including last year’s 32-29 AFC Championship victory.

By winning in Buffalo, Kansas City would break an odd trend heading into their bye week.

Close behind: In Week 2, the Chiefs open up Arrowhead Stadium by hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s an early-season Super Bowl LIX rematch in FOX's late window*.*

Odds and ends: The Chiefs begin the NFL season on Friday night, September 5, away against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil (7:15 p.m.).

Kansas City has opened as 2.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Rapid analysis

The Chiefs have seven primetime games as part of eight standalone games, including:

  • Friday night visiting the Chargers in Brazil (Week 1)
  • Sunday night visiting the New York Giants (Week 3)
  • Sunday night visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 5)
  • Sunday night hosting the Detroit Lions (Week 6)
  • Monday night hosting the Washington Commanders (Week 8)
  • Week 13 visiting the Dallas Cowboys in a late-afternoon Thanksgiving showcase (Week 13)
  • Sunday night hosting the Houston Texans (Week 14)
  • Christmas night hosting the Denver Broncos (Week 17)

Unlike last year — when the Chiefs infamously played on six different days (every day but Tuesday) — their 2025 schedule is more traditional. They’ll play on just four: Friday (the opener), plus the usual Thursday, Sunday and Monday mix.

Kansas City’s bye week is in a perfect spot in Week 10, splitting the season to nine games entering the bye and eight after — ideal when you consider the club’s goal is always to play well into late January. The Chiefs have quick turnarounds for only two games: their Thanksgiving matchup on the road against the Cowboys and their Christmas Day tilt at home against the Denver Broncos.

Five of Kansas City’s six AFC West division games fall after mid-November; three occur in December and January.
