Here’s how the Bears draft could play out if they move back
The 2025 NFL Draft is just a few days a way and the Chicago Bears are in great shape to add a few impact players to their roster this year. Oddly enough, it might be easier to find those impact players in round 2 than it will be in round 1.
I believe the Chicago Bears will highly consider any opportunities to trade back in this draft, but will those opportunities come? They may not, but if they do, it could open up the Bears to add another pick into the heart of this draft and come away with an even deeper roster than they would have expected.
Here’s what the Bears draft could look like if they find a trade-back partner at 10.
The Chicago Bears find a trade back partner. Tyler Warren goes in the top 9 and the Indianapolis Colts really wanted Warren or Loveland so they call up and the Bears are ready to deal. The Colts come up to 10 and take Loveland, and the Bears drop back to 14.
The Bears aren’t able to add an additional pick with this trade, but they are able to upgrade the 72nd pick. They trade 10 and 72 to Indianapolis for 14 and 45. Giving the Bears 39, 41, and 45.
Williams is the perfect fit for Dennis Allen. He needs time to develop a full pass-rushing arsenal but the moves he currently has are effective and he has the type of body that could allow him to one day be an elite playmaker on the edge. Williams steps is as the Bears DE3 immediately where he can get snaps but doesn’t have to play critical minutes for the Bears behind their two starters.
I know some people wonder exactly what Henderson can be at the next level, but he just screams Ben Johnson to me. You don’t see many backs like Henderson that are quality pass protectors, but Henderson is, something that Johnson will love and allows Henderson flexibility as to when he can be on the field. He also has the elite burst to create explosive plays. Many question his vision and that may be lacking, but put Henderson behind a quality offensive line, which hopefully the Bears now have, and he should be able to be an impact player as a rookie.
The Bears were crossing their fingers that Josh Conerly would fall to this spot, but they aren’t upset with their consolation prize. Ersery is a Ryan Poles-type of guy. He started playing football late in life and is still improving significantly every year. He has all the tools to be an outstanding NFL tackle, but he needs a little time to develop.
