Luther Burden is not having the best start to his Bears’ career.
Burden had been missing valuable time on the field, having dealt with a hamstring injury in the early days of 2025 training camp.
On Tuesday, he finally made his way to practice to take part in team drills.
Burden missed OTAs, minicamp, and the first four days of training camp due to a hamstring injury sustained during rookie minicamp back in May, but head coach Ben Johnson said the 39th overall pick is now being eased into team drills “slowly but surely,” per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com.
His time on the field would not last long.
During Bears training camp, rookie WR Luther Burden misaligned at the line of scrimmage in a team drill.
Head coach Ben Johnson reportedly yelled at him and removed him from the drill, emphasizing accountability. He was said to be kicked off the field and “chewed out.”

Johnson had also pointed out similar issues during Monday’s walkthrough, saying those mistakes forced the team to “re-huddle and start all over again.”
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Burden is “a little behind right now.”
Burden is expected to compete for the No. 3 receiver job in the Bears’ rotation behind Moore and Rome Odunze, but he had previously been unable to practice since early May when he sustained a hamstring injury in rookie minicamp.
Luther Burden broke onto the scene in 2023 when he caught 86 passes for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns for Missouri.
His play was more than enough to gain praise from NFL scouts, and some started to consider him a likely first-round prospect
Burden slid to the Bears at No. 39 overall.
