On Saturday, the Chicago Bears tweaked their practice squad by releasing wide receiver Miles Boykin and signing linebacker Carl Jones Jr., who cleared waivers after being released by the Bears on Thursday.

Jones has played in seven games this season, all on special teams, and his 10 total tackles are tied for the second most on the team.

The Bears also elevated tight end Stephen Carlson to the active roster from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game against the New York Giants. In case you missed it, on Friday, tight end Durham Smythe popped up on the injury report wth a calf issue, and he’s listed as questionable.

Since Carlson is the only player elevated, that likely means running back D’Andre Swift, who is listed as questionable, will be good to go.

Here’s one more in case you missed it about the Bears: On NFL.com, Ian Rapoport reported that the Bears were close to trading for New Orleans Saints defensive back Alontae Taylor before a deal fell through.
