Virginia’s funeral was held in Mount Prospect this morning

The Chicago Bears lost their Matriarch, Virginia McCaskey last week. Wednesday morning the Bears family came together to mourn her passing.

Private services were held this morning at Emily Catholic Church in Mount Prospect.

McCaskey became the Bears' primary owner in 1983 after her father, George Halas, passed away.

Several Chicago Bears and people from around the NFL came to celebrate Virginia’s life.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell attended the service as well as some of the other owners from around the league.

Several former Chicago Bears also attended the funeral including Matt Forte, Brian Urlacher, Dan Hampton, Richard Dent, Charles Tillman, ‘Spice’ Adams, and Tom Waddle.

Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson also attended the service.

McCaskey died at 102 and was alive for all but 36 of the Chicago Bears games throughout the franchise's history.

In the coming days, we expect the Chicago Bears to announce the official succession plan with how the ownership of the team transfers to George McCaskey and her other children.
