On Wednesday, the Chicago Bears announced that safety Tarvarius Moore was released. There was no corresponding transaction, so Chicago currently has one opening on the 90-man roster.

The 28-year-old Moore began the 2024 season on the practice squad, but was eventually signed to the active roster. He played in eleven games, all on special teams (185 snaps), making seven tackles.

Moore is the second safety to be let go in as many days, after Alex Cook was waived yesterday. That leaves veterans Jonathan Owens and Elijah Hicks, and undrafted free agent rookies Major Burns and Tysheem Johnson backing up Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard III.

I wonder if a new safety will be added to the mix, or if a current cornerback could be converted.

Also, in case you missed it, Chicago’s two veteran signees from yesterday, defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon and cornerback Tre Flowers, were issued jersey numbers 69 and 37, respectively.
