The former Ohio State Buckeye great was with Ben Johnson as his assistant quarterbacks coach since 2022 after ending his professional playing career with the Edmonton Bucks of the CFL. He’s also the third different assistant with prior experience as a player in the NFL along with Al Harris and Antwaan Randle El.
Of course the primary task for J.T. Barrett will be to spearhead the refinement of Caleb Williams’ development and be that sounding board between player and coach. He’s relatively new to the coaching profession, but has earned Ben Johnson’s trust with a quick promotion headed into year three of his career. This relationship will be key heading into year two for Caleb Williams.
As always we’ll update you all with each hire made in the coming days.
