Chicago Bears Camp Recap for August 7

The Chicago Bears were back at Halas Hall today after a day off, and it’s game week! Sure, it’s just preseason, but it’ll provide us with our first real look at the Ben Johnson offense. They’ll host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday for the game, but they’ll also host the ‘Fins on Friday for a joint practice. With the two teams scrimmaging tomorrow, there’s a chance we won’t see many starters play on Sunday, so stay tuned for updates on playing time.

Also, today’s practice was not padded, and it was generally less physically demanding than we’ve seen. I can only assume it was a lighter workload because tomorrow would be live.

Tight end Cole Kmet, who left the field on Tuesday with an injury, was already back suited up today. Also back at practice was UDFA running back Deion Hankins.

The Bears began practice with an 11 on 11 session, and Braxton Jones was with the ones at left tackle. Rookie Ozzy Trapilo was with the second string, but he also worked in with the ones. This competition may continue through the preseason so the team can evaluate them against different competition. Rookie Luke Newman received a few reps at left guard with the ones.

At one point during practice, nickelback Kyler Gordon went to the locker room. If the team gives an update, we’ll pass it along here. Also leaving the field was right tackle Darnell Wright. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious for these two key starters.

Now let’s get to a few Tweets from those who were at practice today.
