The Chicago Bears improved to 7-3 with a big 19-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The win strengthened the Bears’ first place standing in the NFC North divisional race. On Tuesday, the Bears added an All-Pro player into the mix.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bears have added linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin to the practice squad. Reeves-Maybin is in his ninth NFL season, but he has yet to play a snap this year. The 30-year-old former fourth-round pick has spent seven seasons on staffs coached by Ben Johnson, so the two are very familiar with one another.
When he’s not preparing for his next game, Reeves-Maybin acts as the NFL Players Association’s president. While Reeves-Maybin’s primary position is as a linebacker, his biggest contributions have come on special teams, where he earned second-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowl nod in 2023 with the Detroit Lions.
But Reeves-Maybin, like many other Lions, has even carried the ball three times on offense (fake punt and field goals), going for four yards, including one first down.
Reeves-Maybin has tallied 221 tackles across 114 appearances, including 14 starts. Now he’ll presumably get a chance to improve upon his numbers in the Windy City for a head coach he’s quite familiar with.
