Heading into his fourth NFL season and the final year of his rookie contract, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has already seen a lot. In his three NFL seasons, Doubs caught passes from Aaron Rodgers during Doubs’ rookie year, then saw the Packers make the transition to Jordan Love at quarterback. He has dealt with adversity, between nagging injuries, questions about his hands, and frustration over his role on the team — who has drafted multiple additional receivers in two of the three drafts since his own selection.

Last year, Doubs earned a one-game suspension from the team for his reaction to his role in a game plan. That cost him a chance to play in his hometown of Los Angeles when the Packers visited the Rams.

Still, Doubs has been a consistent producer and has seen several statistical measures increase steadily each season. His yards per reception average has consistently grown, as has his average depth of target down the field and average yards per game. Now he is back and looking to continue that upward trend heading into a contract year, while also serving as the old, grizzled veteran in the receiver room.

At this point, it would be foolish to count him out of being the Packers’ leading receiver at the end of the season, especially if his play so far in training camp practices is any indication. Let’s look more into Doubs’ summer and much more.

It seems like Doubs is making a big play nearly every day in practice, and for a team that still could still use someone to step up and be a number one receiver, it’s a great sign. It’s also a testament to his improved route-running, and if he translates this into a big season it could mean a big free agent payday for him next spring.

Why Packers QB Jordan Love is going to run more in 2025 | The Athletic ($) The simple answer is that he’s healthy (and hopefully he will stay that way). But he’s also training himself to work the possibility of scrambling into his progressions a bit more when his initial reads break down, rather than going straight to his check-down options.
