It is becoming more and more evident that it is going to be tough to evaluate Cam Ward behind this offensive line – especially as long as JC Latham is out. He is running for his life back there, and it is causing him to move from the pocket sooner than he should at times. It’s hard to blame him for that. Hopefully, Latham is back in short order, and they can start to get some cohesion up front.
Ward was 19 of 33 for 175 yards and a touchdown yesterday. He still hasn’t thrown an interception, but he did get a little sloppy with his ball security yesterday, which led to a strip sack. It’s not surprising to see that from a rookie quarterback. One thing that Ward has shown us for sure is that he will put in the necessary work to fix issues like that.
Here are Ward’s numbers from PFF via John Glennon:
There is nothing major that jumps off the page with those. We would all love for this Tennessee Titans team to be in contention for the playoffs this season, but that just isn’t going to happen with this roster. All we can hope for is that Ward shows some major improvements by the time the season ends.
With all of that being said, DID YOU SEE THE TOUCHDOWN HE THREW TO ELIC AYOMANOR YESTERDAY?!?
That play is insane. This angle makes it look even more insane:
