The Chargers are re-signing linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips to the active roster and placing rookie undrafted free agent cornerback Eric Rogers on IR. Rogers was injured during the team’s second preseason game against the New Orleans Saints after picking off two passes and returning one for a touchdown.

In that limited amount of playtime prior to his injury, he showed enough to the Chargers to have him kept through final cuts and it looks like the team will be giving him all the time he needs to heal and recover before returning to the team. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to wait until the 2026 season to see Rogers in action once again as he is not being designated to return.

The Chargers signed Phillips earlier this offseason in an attempt to flesh out their linebacker depth while adding an experienced contributor on special teams to help replace the loss of former Bolts linebacker Nick Niemann. Niemann signed with the Texans as a free agent in March but has since been cut and signed to the Packers practice squad.
