Najee Harris sustained a “superficial” eye injury during a fireworks accident on Fourth of July.

The Chargers reported to The Bolt Wednesday to get ready for the start of training camp on Thursday and the occasion came with it some updates on Najee Harris and his eye injury he sustained in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July.

Per general manager Joe Hortiz, Harris will likely begin training camp on the non-football injury list (NFI) as he continues to recover. Harris has been receiving treatment from doctors at Stanford.

At first, the use of the word superficial in this scenario seemed to have been used to downplay the injury. However, now that we know he’s been receiving continued treatment as the hospital of prestigious university, I’d go as far as to say that the injury wasn’t just some marks on his face. If I had to guess, I’d say Harris likely incurred some scarring on his face that needs skin grafts. Until we see him out on the field, this will continue to just be a guess.

Either way, here’s to hoping for a clean recovery so he can return to the field as soon as possible.
