The high point of Trey Lance’s NFL career was being the San Francisco 49ers’ No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft. Since then, Lance has been held back by injury, inexperience, and a lack of opportunity.
Brock Purdy took his job, and then he sat behind Dak Prescott for two years with the Dallas Cowboys.
On Thursday night, he got a chance to show what he’s got in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
Lance, a former third overall pick who has spent most of his career as a backup, put together a strong performance in Thursday’s win, where neither team played their starters.
Amid his time on the field, there was some talk about his dating past off the field.
Prior to Trey Lance’s rookie season in the NFL, he was linked to Colin Cowherd’s daughter.
The former North Dakota State quarterback made waves in 2021 when Colin Cowherd mentioned on “The Herd” podcast that Lance was at his house.
“I think he’s special,” Cowherd said.
“By the way, I’m not going to lie, he was at my house 24 hours ago. Very humble, very gracious, he’s got all the right things in life that he cares about.”
Neither Lance nor Cowherd’s daughter, Liv, ever spoke out about the dating rumors.
Currently, Trey Lance has been dating April Marie.
In March 2025, April posted a series of vacation photos from Nassau, Bahamas, on Instagram and captioned them, “Out the way, in the best way .💘”
Football is back. While NFL training camps are just gaining steam as many teams transition to fully padded action, the Detroit Lions versus the Los Angeles Chargers kicked off for our viewing pleasure.
The annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game was the first time any of the league’s teams had met between the lines since Super Bowl 59.
The Los Angeles Chargers’ 34-7 beatdown of the Lions didn’t feature many players likely to contribute much to those teams this season. However, one player did come away as a winner.
It was Trey Lance.
Lance finished 13-for-20 for 120 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
