Chargers Preseason Schedule: Bolts to face former HC, OC vs. Saints

The Chargers will join the Lions as one of two teams who will play four preseason games this year.

Earlier this spring, it was announced that the Chargers and the Lions would play each other in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The exhibition marks the start of the preseason which will take place on July 31 at 6:00 p.m. PT.

Due to the Chargers’ selection for the game, they and the Lions will be the only two teams in the NFL who will play four preseason games this year.

Along with the team’s full regular season schedule revealed on Wednesday night, the entire preseason slate was also announced by the NFL. Here are the Chargers’ four opponents:

  • (Pro Football Hall of Fame Game): vs. Detroit Lions - July 31 @ 5:00 p.m. PT (NBC)
  • Preseason Week One: vs. New Orleans Saints, August 10 @ 1:05 p.m. (CBS2 LA)
  • Preseason Week Two: @ Los Angeles Rams, August 16 @ 4:00 p.m. (CBS2 LA)
  • Preseason Week Three: @ San Francico 49ers, TBD (CBS2 LA)

In Jim Harbaugh’s first preseason as head coach of the Chargers, they went 2-1 with wins over the 49ers (23-12) and Rams (34-17) while their lone loss came by the Saints (22-17).

The Chargers’ preseason game against the New Orleans Saints will also mark the first time that former head coach Brandon Staley (now Saints OC) and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore (now Saints HC) since both were in LA during the 2023 season.
