With J.K. Dobbins set to become a free agent, is there a chance that the Chargers’ leading rusher for the 2025 is currently not on the team?
The Chargers were rewarded with a career-best season from J.K. Dobbins when they signed him to a low-risk, one-year contract prior to the 2024 campaign. Despite missing four games to injury, he still fell less than 100 yards from his first 1,000-yard season and one score away from double-digit touchdowns.
As of now, Dobbins is set to become a free agent wen the new league year begins next month. It’s hard to believe the Chargers would allow him to walk after the year he just had, on top of how well he fit into the locker room, but sometimes you just never know what teams will do when faced with the numerous decisions that come with each offseason.
Regardless of Dobbins’ future, many NFL draft analysts have paired the Chargers with some of the draft’s top backs throughout numerous mock drafts. We’ve seen Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson, and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton all get tabbed with the Bolts.
So with that in mind, I want to know how you all feel about the future of the Chargers backfield. Is the player who will lead the team in rushing next season currently on the Chargers or will it be a first-year pro? What about a player who has currently played elsewhere, like the Steelers’ Najee Harris?
