On Wednesday afternoon, along with a plethora of other news breaks coming from the team, the Chargers announced their captains for the 2025 regular season. They are:
Quarterback Justin Herbert, offensive tackle Joe Alt, and center Bradley Bozeman on offense with wide receiver Keenan Allen as an alternate.
On defense, edge rusher Khalil Mack, safety Derwin James, and linebacker Daiyan Henley got the nod with linebacker Denzel Perryman designated as the alternate for that side of the ball.
Both Henley and Alt are first-time captains for the Chargers, and neither should be a surprise to anyone. Alt is essentially replacing the injured Rashawn Slater as the leader of the offensive line (sorry Bozeman) and Henley is rightfully getting the recognition he deserves after a standout year in 2024. As defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has said at one time or another this offseason, Henley has continued to grow into his own and into his new role as the leader of the linebacker room.
Congrats to all of these worthy players!
