The Chargers are going to be without starting linebacker Denzel Perryman for some time as it’s being reported that he suffered a high ankle sprain on Friday night early in the team’s season opener against the Chiefs. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Perryman is considered week-to-week, but returning from a high ankle sprain usually takes around four to six weeks.

Whatever the eventual timeline, it’s likley Perryman will miss the next few weeks at minimum.

Following his injury on Friday night, the Chargers looked to veteran Troy Dye to replace Perryman for the remainder of game. Luckily, the defense did not miss a beat as they continued to limit the Chiefs offense enough to escape with a 27-21 victory in Brazil.

Against the Las Vegas Raiders and in subsequent weeks, expect to see some possible snaps on defense for both rookie Marlowe Wax and Del’Shawn Phillips to help share the load.
