The Chargers will replace Chris O’Leary with former FSU DC Adam Fuller, a coach with a wealth of experience coaching safeties at the college level.

The Chargers have found their replacement for Chris O’Leary.

On Wednesday morning, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that former Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller is being hired as the Bolts’ new safeties coach. Fuller spent the past five seasons (2020-2024) calling the defense for the Seminoles. Prior to that, Fuller was the defensive coordinator at Memphis (2019) and Marshall (2018). Current FSU head coach Mike Norvell was the head coach at Memphis in 2019, as well, before bringing Fuller along to Tallahassee.

During his five seasons at Florida State, Fuller had a hand in developing a number of future NFL players, including edge rushers Jermaine Johnson and Jared Verse, cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., and defensive tackles Braden Fisk and Marvin Wilson. Both Verse and Fisk were integral in helping guide the Rams to the playoffs this season and Samuel Jr. had been a starter for the Chargers since being drafted in 2021 prior to his injury early in the 2024 campaign.
