Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh confirms Khalil Mack is headed to IR

On Wednesday before the team’s first practice of Week Three, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed to reporters that edge rusher and captain Khalil Mack is being placed on IR. Mack will now miss a minimum of four games before he can return to the field.

Mack suffered a dislocated elbow against the Raiders on Monday night after notching his first sack of the 2025 season against his former team. On the unfortunate play, Mack reached out to tackle a Raiders ballcarrier just as teammate and linebacker Troy Dye dove shoulder-first, catching and pinning Mack’s arm between him and the defender. Mack’s arm essentially bent the wrong way and he immediately knew something was wrong.

In his place, third-year pass rusher Tuli Tuipulotu will join with veteran Bud Dupree, Caleb Murphy, and fourth-rounder Kyle Kennard to make up the team’s top four edge rushers while Mack is out. Of course, this is barring the Chargers signing someone off the street or making a trade.

We’ll miss Mack in the meantime, but we know he’ll return ready to roll when the time comes.
