After a year away in New York Mike Williams returns home to be one of the primary pass catchers for the Bolts
It wasn’t a very long vacation in the Big Apple for Mike Williams as he returns to the Los Angeles Chargers after just one year with the New York Jets (and the Pittsburgh Steelers). The Bolts had a big need at wide receiver heading into the offseason and Williams is certainly going to help fill in some of the void, though the position still needs to be addressed in the draft later on.
Williams is of course a long-time staple Chargers fans are very familiar with after 7 seasons with the team, including multiple 1,000 yard seasons and 30 touchdowns for the Bolts. Williams will be tasked once again as a big-bodied deep threat for Justin Herbert and this offense, one that was seriously lacking last year with consistency.
The Chargers added some consistency, a veteran presence, and a solid receiver to a room that needed it. This will be a move that takes a big step forward in creating a more reliable and explosive offense under Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert. While Williams had limited impact in New York, he Williams should have better luck in a more familiar home under a relatively cheap deal.
