Could the Chargers target the speedy and versatile running back out of Ohio State in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft?
The Los Angeles Chargers under the new Jim Harbaugh era made it a priority to establish the running game and use draft capital to make that happen as shown by their selection of Joe Alt in the first-round last year. Now with another draft on the horizon it could make sense for the team to use their next first round selection on the centerpiece of their rushing attack with a versatile and pro-ready running back in Ohio Stateβs TreVeyon Henderson.
A part of the National Champion duo of runners that helped Ohio State win it all, Henderson paired with fellow running back Quinshon Judkins to form one of the most potent rushing attacks in the country. A huge factor in the Ohio State offense over the last four seasons, Henderson saved his best for last going for 1,300 scrimmage yards and 11 total touchdowns on the year. Henderson showed himself as a polished and intelligent player who had the physical tools to operate as an every-down back at the next level given his proficiency in both pass blocking and receiving. Beyond that Henderson is an electric runner with great vision and a solid second gear that makes him a candidate to see 20 touches a game at the next level.
Hendersonβs fit with the Chargers seems natural given how pro ready he is in all phases of the game and he seems like a player Jim Harbaugh may target to help lead their rushing attack. With J.K. Dobbins headed to free agency and Gus Edwards cemented as the power back, Henderson could immediately make some noise in Los Angeles as a first round selection.
