The Chargers could upgrade with some big men in the interior in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft
It’s no secret that one of the biggest needs for the Los Angeles Chargers heading into the 2025 season is upgrading their defensive line. After an impressive showing by the defense last season, the Bolts could stand to build their core up from the inside out with the selection of Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant.
Grant has been a staple for a reliably solid Michigan defense and a big factor in their dominance of the interior next to Mason Graham. While Grant’s forte isn’t necessarily sacking the quarterback, he has wrapped up opposing signal callers 6.5 times over the last two seasons and has consistently been a disruptive force in the middle in both pass and run defense. The 340-pound defensive lineman has been one of the best interior defenders in all of college sports in his two seasons as a starter and has a skillset that translate well to the next level.
Grant’s fit with the Chargers is plug-and-play as he would slide in as the immediate starter along the defensive line and add immediate pressure in the interior. It’s clear that Jim Harbaugh likes to build from the inside out and Grant is a perfect fit for both his familiarity and his natural ability within this system.
