Good morning, Chargers fans!
Early Tuesday morning, reports came out that the NFL owners are expected to push through the proposal to allow players to participate in the 2028 Summer Olympics. This would allow the best football players in the world a chance to represent their country on the biggest stage when the games come to Los Angeles a little over three years from now.
Everyone from players to owners believe this would be a huge step forward for the game of football and just an overall surreal experience for those who never thought they could play this game with their country’s flag on their jersey.
The only downside? It’s still three years from now. Some of the league’s best will be pushing the end of their careers. As I mentioned above, Hill will be 34 years old. Mahomes will be 32 but Jefferson will still be in his prime at 28. The landscape of the league could also be quite different by then, as well. Who knows what that eventual team will look like, especially if there are non-NFL players looking to retain their spot on the country’s flag team.
Are you all excited to finally see NFL players in the Olympics? Do you think any non-NFLers will be able to make the team? Let us know in the comments below!
