On Thursday afternoon just before practice, the Chargers announced a pair of transactions centered on their offensive line.
First, they announced the signing of offensive tackle Foster Sarell who rejoins the team he spent the past four season with (2021-2024) before he signed a one-year contract with the Commanders in March. But after being cut from the team on Wednesday, Sarell is back in a familiar place where he can earn a role as the team’s swing tackle.
In a corresponding move, the Chargers are releasing veteran tackle David Sharpe from the practice squad whom they signed halfway through the preseason.
In his most recent presser with the media, offensive coordinator Greg Roman said that offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer was “most likely the answer” at swing tackle. But now with Sarell, the two will likely compete for the job over the next week or so to decide who officially gets the honor.
