Chargers Asst. GM Chad Alexander receives 2nd interview with Raiders

Chargers assistant GM Chad Alexander is the first candidate to receive a second interview with the Raiders.

On Saturday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport noted on a recent Move The Stick podcast with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks that Chargers assistant general manager Chad Alexander is flying to Las Vegas on Monday for a second in-person interview with the Raiders. Alexander’s first interview with the Raiders was reported just four days ago which leads us to believe they’re currently loving what Alexander has to offer.

Alexander was Joe Hortiz’s first hire after being hired to be the Chargers’ general manager. The long-time Ravens scout and front office member was most recently the Director of Player Personnel for the New York Jets in 2023. Alexander cut his teeth under the great Ozzie Newsome who was the general manager in Baltimore from 2002-2018 and is well-respected for his wealth of experience at numerous roles in the scouting department.

However, before anyone gets excited about Alexander being hired away into a higher role elsewhere, the Chargers would NOT be in line to receive compensatory picks due to Alexander only being with the Chargers for one year. It would be an unfortunate series of events as the NFL has watched teams like the 49ers benefit greatly from having their minority coaches/front office staff get hired away and the first time the Bolts COULD be in line for a similar payoff, they fall just short of the parameters of the rule.
