10 years ago today, on October 3, 2015, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed a little-known kicker from Rice who had never kicked a field goal in a regular-season game. Throughout the rest of the 2015 season, this kicker went 29-of-32, including going 2-of-2 on kicks of 50+ yards, and kicked the game-winning field goal to propel the Steelers past the Cincinnati Bengals in the wild card round of the playoffs.
After a brief search, the Steelers found their answer at kicker, and Chris Boswell has become not just a staple of the Steelers, but a mainstay in the best kicker in the NFL conversation.
For his career, Boswell has made 88 percent of his field goals, including a league-leading 41 kicks in 2024 en route to his first First-Team All-Pro selection. On top of making 88 percent of his kicks, Boswell has made a staggering 83 percent of field goals from 50+ yards, going 45-of-54, and 36-of-42 since 2021.

If not for Boswell, it’s very possible that the above .500 streak is not a thing, and he has been one of their unquestioned MVPs over his decade-long career in Pittsburgh.
