The start to CeeDee Lamb’s career is among the best in NFL history.

There’s no denying CeeDee Lamb has lived up to the mantle of wearing No. 88. It’s hard to imagine a world in which he could have worn another number because there’s a chance he might become the best wide receiver to wear that number in the history of the Dallas Cowboys.

Despite missing time last year due to injury, Lamb has had over 1,100 yards receiving for the past four seasons. Since 2021, his combined 5,404 receiving yards have been the fourth-best among wide receivers. Lamb’s success over his first half-decade in the NFL has put his start to his career among some elite names in the game’s history.

Outside of Lamb and Justin Jefferson, Jerry Rice and Randy Moss are Hall of Fame players, with Torry Holt finishing as a Hall of Fame finalist for the last six seasons. Holt might not have the same name recognition as their other two, but he is one of the best statistical players at his position of all time.

Lamb’s total receiving yards across his first five seasons are better than those of Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, and Marvin Harrison. The Cowboys are hoping for big things from their star wide out in year six as the team enters a new era under Brian Schottenheimer.

Given the addition of George Pickens and Schottenheimer’s potential run-heavy attack on offense, there’s a chance that Lamb’s numbers might not reach levels of what he saw in 2023, where he went over 1,700 yards and had 12 receiving touchdowns. But if Lamb has at least another 1,000-yard season, it could keep him in the top ten all-time in receiving yards for a wide receiver’s first six seasons in the league.

There’s no doubt that Lamb has gotten off to a historic start in his career and has the potential to enter the conversation about becoming an all-time, gold-jacket level player over the next five years.
