Not so long ago, Carson Wentz looked poised to become the next NFL superstar.

An injury cut short his MVP-caliber campaign, but his Philadelphia Eagles still managed to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t return to his previous form after recovering from that injury.

He wasn’t the most coachable player, and his eagerness to take risks eventually doomed him to become a backup.

Now, he’s on the other side of the field against the Eagles, as he’s Patrick Mahomes’ backup.

When asked about his time in Philadelphia, however, the former star claimed that even though things didn’t end well for him and the organization, he still cherishes those memories (via Eliot Shorr-Parks).

The Eagles signed Wentz to a huge contract extension, and he wasn’t able to live up to those expectations.

Some fans urged the team to move on from him, and his once-promising career was rather short-lived, as he actually went months without a deal after being let go by the Indianapolis Colts.

Even so, he’s made enough money from his starting days, and he deserves a lot of credit for that Super Bowl run.

He wasn’t out there in the playoffs, but he put the team on his shoulders with a spectacular regular season.

No one can take his ring away from him.

Maybe he’ll add another piece of jewelry to his collection on Sunday.
